Apparatus for measuring velocity of moving matter in navigation apparatus and method therefor

Provided are an apparatus and a method for measuring a moving speed of a moving object capable of increasing the accuracy of a moving object's speed measurement and position estimation in a navigation device. An apparatus for measuring a moving speed of a moving object in a navigation device according to the present invention includes an acceleration sensor for measuring an acceleration of the moving object and outputting an acceleration measurement value according to the present invention, and measuring an altitude of the moving object and outputting an altitude measurement value accordingly. A sensor unit including an altimeter, and a calculation unit for calculating the moving speed of the moving object using the acceleration measurement value output from the acceleration sensor and the altitude measurement value output from the altimeter.
