Influence of stator slotting on the performance of solid rotor induction machines

Abstract The analysis of the solid rotor induction machine is undertaken on a model that encompasses the cylindrical slotted structure of the stator. The slots and teeth are replaced by an anizotropic domain whose relative permeability has distinct values in two directions (depending on the slot parameters). Field theoretical methods lead to the operating parameters as functions of the geometric dimensions and electro-magnetic properties of the stator and rotor materials. The characteristics of the machine are computed as functions of slip, material properties and slotting dimensions revealing the possibility of an optimization process for the design of machine dimensions.
