Survey and analysis of infection rate of rabies virus among healthy dogs in Guangxi,2006～2007

Object To understand the healthy-dog infection of rabies virus in Guangxi,2006～2007.Methods The brain simples from 3 080 healthy dogs were collected from 14 cities in Guangxi.DFA and RT-PCR methods were used to detect rabies virus in the brain samples.Results All brain samples were tested and the total infection rates of rabies virus were 1.92 %(26/1 352) and 0.92 %(16/1 728) in 2006 and 2007,respectively.In 2006,the infection rate of rabies virus in Nanning City was highest with a infection rate of 3.15 %,but the Baise City and Wuzhou City had the highest infection rates among 14 cities in 2007,with their infection rates of 4.96 % and 3.60%,respectively.The infection rates in the cities of Hechi,Yulin,Beihai,Guilin,and Laibin were 1.47%、0.92%、0.78 %、0.78%、and 0.66 %,respectively.The rabies virus was not detected in other 7 cities.Conclusions The healthy dog had high infection rate of rabies virus in Guangxi.So.it is necessary to strengthen the dog's vaccine immunization and management for rabies prevention and control.
