A design of phased arrays carried on vehicles for Ku band satellite communication

A kind of square planar phased arrays for Ku band satellite communication is presented. The array develops from Dolph-Chebyshev arrays with 30 times 30 elements. Its broadside directivity is about 30 dB, and its sidelobe level is around -32 dB. To avoid disturbing other satellites nearby, the array has a very sharp beamwidth about 1.8deg. The array can be carried on vehicles conveniently because its aperture area is about 0.5 m2 and 0.15 m height
