IT Application Maturity, Management Institutional Capability and Process Management Capability

ThisarticlestudiestheinfluenceofenterprisecorecompetenceonITapplicationmaturity(ITAM) fromtheperspectivesofmanagementinstitutionalandprocessmanagementcapabilities.Theroles offirmownershipandinternationalorganizationofstandard(ISO)certificationsarealsostudied. Basedon reliableandvalidmeasurementsof ITapplicationsmaturity,management institutional capability, andprocessmanagement capability, the authors collect correspondingdata from123 companiesinChina.TheyfindapositiverelationshipbetweencapabilitiesandITAM.Management institutionalcapabilityhasastrongerrelationshipwithITAMinChinesestate-ownedenterprisesor publiccompanies;whilemultinationalcompaniesorjointventureswitnessastrongerrelationshipwith processmanagementcapability.ISOhelpscompanieswithlowmanagementinstitutionalcapability toimproveITAM.However,forcompanieswithhighermanagementinstitutionalcapability,ISO mitigatestherelationshipandposesashiftoftheimportancetoprocessmanagementcapabilityin improvingITAM.
