Wireless ATM Handover Protocol Design

This chapter is concerned with protocols to support terminal mobility. A review of existing handover schemes found in connectionless and connection-oriented Wireless LANs is presented. This chapter reveals how mobility can be supported at the data-link, network, transport, session and application layers. Handover protocol designed issues are then discussed, followed by a detailed description of the design of a hybrid handover protocol for Wireless ATM LANs.
