Neurophysiology: Past and present

This article considers the strengths and weaknesses of various approaches to the history of neurophysiology. It then seeks to gain a perspective on key features of modern neurophysiology by an analysis of developments in the areas of reflex theory, of ideas of the microstructure of the nervous system, and of the localization of function within the brain. © 2009 Elsevier Ltd All rights reserved.
