On the low-temperature electrical resistivity of copper and gold

The electron-phonon contribution to the low-temperature electrical resistivity of copper and gold is calculated using two plane-wave states for the electrons and the eight-cone model for describing the Fermi surface. The approximate T4 behaviour which has been observed recently for copper and gold is examined in terms of the calculated electron-phonon contribution plus a suitable electron-electron term. The results of the calculations are presented and discussed.
