Varying roentgenographic patterns of patent ductus arteriosus in the newborn.

A series of 37 cases of patent ductus arteriosus in the newborn was reviewed.Three distinctive roentgenographic patterns appear to have emerged from the study: (1) a congestive heart failure pattern; (2) a "mild PDA" pattern; and (3) a "pseudo Mikity-Wilson" pattern. The correlation of the roentgenographic pattern with the clinical findings is discussed in detail.
