A topological model for fingerprint image analysis

Many problems in fingerprint recognition are closely related to a branch of mathematics, the topology. This paper presents a topological model for fingerprint characterization and illustrates its potential application to fingerprint orientation analysis, fingerprint singular point detection and fingerprint classification. A few examples for the potential applications are presented in this paper.
