Effective Collaboration in Teacher Education

Spring '92, Vol. XIV. No. J pag~ 52 Over the past six years, a number of K-12 teachers and highcreducation faculty have worked together in each other's classrooms to improve instruction, facilitate curriculum development and enhance faculty development. This collaborative initiative between the Bowling Green, Ohio, City Schools and the College of Educational and Allied Profcssionsat Bowling Green State University has been recognized as an outstanding example of program development in education by being awarded the Christa McAuliffe Showcase for Excellence Award. This article will explain the design of the program, describe several partnership projects, ~laborate one case study in depth and discuss the know ledge gained about the elements necessary for effective university/school collaborations in teacher education.
