As the fourth generation light source, LED owns the advantages compared with other light sources:high efficiency, energy saving and long life. For the traditional LED power driven supply, the widespread use of electrolytic capacitors greatly reduces the life of LED lighting. To improve the life of the power supply of LED, the paper proposes a three-phase LED which drives the design without electrolytic capacitor in street lamps and other large power lighting applications. The three-phase electricity is the input. Using the phase difference among three phases power, LED is parallel powered by three-phase alternating current with the driving circuit. Therefore, LED can obtain constant flux.According to the superposition theory, the detailed theoretical derivations and proofs are given and the designed scheme is simulated by Matlab/Simulink software. Simulation results prove the designed strategy can effectively drive LED without electrolytic capacitor.
