Evaluation of Local, Improved and Hybrid Rice Varieties against Insect-Pests

Rice is the principal food crop of more than half o f the world’s population. Insect pests are the major constraints for increasing the crop productivity as there are about 100 insect species are recorded to be feeding on th e crop among which 20 are considered to be major pests. In the present piece of research work 5 insect species namely Gundhi Bug - Leptocorisa varicornis , Whitebacked Plant Hopper- Sogatella furcifera , Case worm- Nymphula depunctalis , Leaf folder - and Yellow Stem Borer Scirpophaga incertulas were found in the experimental fields.
