Improved technologies for marking of different materials

In this work, we present results obtained by a CO 2 laser scanning method for marking of organic materials (leather, paper, wood) and other types of materials (ceramics, Plexiglas, glass). For our experiments, we used a sealed-off CO 2 laser which can operate in continuous wave mode and a galvanometric scanner that projects the laser beam onto the target. Using software developed for this application, we have created pictograms on many types of materials via three modes of scanning (vectorial raster, and step-and-hold). The laser parameters and the irradiation conditions were optimized to produce high-quality marks on materials in keeping with industrial standards.
