TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH ON OXIDATIVE DEGREE OF GRAPHITE OXIDE PREPARED BY HUMMERS METHOD

Graphite Oxide (GO) was prepared from flake graphite through liquid oxidation based on Hummers method. The influences of the content of graphite,the time under low reaction temperature,the content of sodium nitrate, the content of potassium permanganate and the way of adding water under high reaction temperature on the structure and resistivity of GO were investigated systematically. The formation course of GO through liquid oxidation was explored. The results show that the oxidation degree of the product can be determined. by XRD analysis and the determination of resistivitity. For the product of high oxidation degree,a sharp characteristic reflection peak of (001) of GO appears in XRD analysis,and the resistivity reaches to 102 Ω·2m. The raw material ratio and technological conditions for preparing GO with higher oxidation degree are:10g of natural graphite flakes,30g of potassium permanganate,230ml concentrated sulfuric acid, 2hr of low temperature reaction time and controlling the reaction temperature within 100℃ by adding water continuously at high temperature reaction.
