The Optimal Design of Wideband Second-order Microwave Differentiator

A new, simple and compact second-order microwave differentiator (SOMD) is dealt in this paper. This SOMD is designed by using ABCD transmission matrix. Proposed design is obtained by cascading of equal length line elements. Linear optimization algorithm is used to determine the optimum values of the characteristic impedances of these lines elements. This proposed differentiator has low absolute error and compact in size as compared to existing differentiator. The simulation results on MATLAB and advanced design software (ADS) are established in fine agreement with the ideal response in the band-width1 GHz to 12.5 GHz.
