Accelerating calculation method for curved computer-generated hologram using look-up table in holographic display

Abstract Limited field of view is a crucial problem in holographic display. Nowadays, curved holograms are applied to increase the field of view. However, heavy computational load for curved computer-generated hologram is still a huge problem. In this paper, a fast calculation method to generate curved computer-generated hologram is proposed. The proposed method consists of two steps: the first step is the calculation and storage of light modulation factors. In the second step, we utilize the light modulation factors and execute the simple arithmetical calculation to obtain a curved computer-generated hologram. Numerical simulation results show the computational speed is dramatically reduced in comparison with direct calculation method and the objects are reconstructed successfully. The optical experimental results are in accord with the numerical simulation results. It is expected that our method could be widely applied in the holographic field in the future.
