On the resolution of retarding field energy analysers. II. The influence of space charge

For Pt.I, see abstra. A46878 and B28058 of 1974. Expressions are derived giving the influence of space charge on the calibration and the resolution of a cylindrically symmetric electrostatic filter lens used to measure the energy of a charged particle beam in a magnetic field. These influences are calculated up to the first order using an iteration procedure. Numerical results are tabulated for a fixed choice of the lens geometry.
