Tethered balloons as geostationary platforms for multispectral radiometry

Abstract The C.A.T.A.R.T. is a section of the Institute of Aerodynamics of Naples which uses various remote sensing platforms to integrate and complement space-born platforms in the monitoring and study of earth resources. The present paper is idented to describe the experiments conducted with a small tethered balloon and southern Italy in order to study the spectral signature of plants and soils by a multichannel radiometer and by photographic means.
