A DRYDOCKING AND ANTIFOULING-FREE HULL SURFACE MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM BASED ON IN-WATER SURVEYS

This paper investigates the possibility of improving hull surface maintenance management systems (HSMMS) by transferring technology from the offshore industry to the ship repair industry. As a result of this, a novel drydock and antifouling-free HSMMS is proposed based on in-water surveys (IWS) and established underwater procedures. A techno-economic study is also presented, demonstrating the technical feasibility and economic viability of the proposed novel system with savings ranging from 20-40% of total hull maintenance costs.
