Well, How are They Running?

Well, how are they running? is a question one might well want answered about the new offshore wind turbines. The RAVE research project Offshore Scientific Monitoring and Evaluation Programme (OWMEP) is supposed to provide the monitoring for this. Gathering production and operating data, including investment and operating costs and failure incidents, requires confidentiality with regard to the individual analyses and public relations for presenting superordinate developments. This means that the OWMEP project meant working with a magnifying glass and a telescope at the same time. Evaluations of the OWMEP database with core, operating and result data were made using adapted confidentiality hierarchies based on user profiles. Over 200 offshore wind turbines are involved in OWMEP to date, providing the public with details of full load hours, availability and investment costs for larger offshore wind farms.
