A LINK BETWEEN SHORT TERM SCHEDULING AND DISPATCHING : “SEPARABILITY OF DYNAMIC DISPATCH”

“Economic dispatch” computes the unit powers minimizing the instantaneous operation cost while meeting “instantaneous constraints” as real power balance and often transmission security. At the opposite, short term scheduling or “dynamic dispatch” computes powers over a finite period, e.g. a few hours, minimizing the period operation cost while meeting some instantaneous constraints and mainly “dynamic constraints” such as maximal power ramps, water to be used, special nuclear requirements.
