Abstract A relatively simple boundary element formulation and its numerical implementation are presented for two-dimensional thermoeleastic problems in steady and non-steady heat conduction states. Several examples in transient heat conduction as well as thermoelasticity are computed by means of the proposed method. Then, the method is applied to the stress intensity factor calculation of cracked structures subjected to time-dependent thermal loadings.
