This issue of Current Topics includes over 70 abstracts of reports, conference papers, books and journal articles which focus on recent developments in member and accessioning countries resulting from the common transport policy of the European Union. Amongst these are Trans European Networks (TENs) for motorways, multimodal freight transport, road user charging systems, road safety action programmes, competition within the rail industry and sustainable transport. These items have been selected from the material added to the Transport Research Laboratory's Library Database between 2003 and 2006. Much of the relevant English language published literature from the UK, USA, Australia and Europe is included; some of the non-UK literature is included courtesy of the OECD International Transport Research Documentation (ITRD) database.
