Volume Changes in the Proton Ionization of ω-Aminocarboxylic Acids in Aqueous Solution *

Partial molar volume / Volume ofproton ionization Aminoacids / Aqueous solutions The volume changes for the first and second steps in proton ionization of the NHÍ(CH2)„COOH (n = 1 -5, 7, 10) species have been determined at 25°C from the partial molar volumes, V'\ of -aminocarboxylic acids as well as of their hydrochlorides and sodium salts. The partial molar volumes of hypothetical bifunctional molecules, V*, without interactions between the hydrophilic centres, have been calculated from volume group contributions and compared with experimental V' values. The V
