The Reliablity and Optimal Inspection Cycle of 2-Unit Serise Systems

This paper deals with a model of 2-unit series repairable systems. It is assumed that each unit has 3 modes(normal, abnormal and failure), and the system is inspected at a time to make sure that each unit is in normal or abnormal while it works, whereas it is not inspected when it fails. By using probability analysis, the supplementary variable technique and an optimization method, not only the reliability indices also the method for calculating optimal inspection cycle have been obtained. The numerical example is served for demonstrating the feasibility of the method.
