NF 00659 Al 9 A 2 , A 3 , Bx and B 2 , Novel Antitumor Antibiotics Produced by Aspergillus sp . NF 00659 II . Structural Elucidation

During the course of our screening for insecticides from microbial metabolites, a series of novel bioactive compounds, NF00659Ax (1), A2 (2), A3 (3), Bx (4) and B2 (5), was isolated from a culture mycelium of Aspergillus sp. NF 00659. The structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis as novel 4,5-seco-tricyclic diterpene a-pyrone (Fig. 1). These compounds showed potent growth inhibitory activities against human ovarian carcinoma A2780 and human colorectal adenocarcinoma SW480cells as well as insecticidal activites. The taxonomy, fermentation, isolation and biological activities of NF00659s were reported in the preceding paper1}. In this paper, we describe the structural elucidation of NF00659s. APR. 1997
