An I-0 Property of Control Systems with Mismatched Smith Controller

Abstract An analysis is made on the system response of a control system which contains a Smith controller with mismatched length of the time-delay. Exponentially decaying signals are used as the inputs. The effect of the mismatch is evaluated in terms of the integrated square values of the output signals. It is shown that the effect of the mismatch depends on the frequency response of the system in high frequency range: if the system has null gain at infinitely high frequency under perfect matching, the effect of mismatch remains small when the mismatch is small; if not, the system response is considerably disturbed by small mismatch.
