Chemical Sensor Using Polarity Controlled Fractal Surface

A chemical sensor was developed using surface polarity modulation of Pt electrode to modify the sensitivity to chemicals. Taste, odor and endocrine disrupter chemicals affect the electrochemical impedance by adsorption to the surface of the electrode. Furthermore, surface characterization was carried out using fractal model under some conditions of electrode preparation. The surface pretreatment and the physicochemical characteristics are important in response abilities and characteristics can be modified by the surface polarization control and the surface pretreatment. Chemical sensors for various chemicals and purposes can be realized using the present method.
