Study on Reactive Power and Voltage Coordinated Control Strategy of Wind Farm Group

Current reactive power and voltage control strategy of wind farms in a same wind energy base aims at reactive power balance of single wind farm only, which cannot satisfy comprehensive voltage and reactive power control needs of the wind farm group in whole. Therefore,a reactive power and voltage coordinated control strategy for wind farm group is proposed. The area voltage control center monitors the pilot bus in the central substation where many wind farms are connected to,and coordinates all kinds of reactive power resources in different wind farms to regulate the voltage profile of all wind farms. The genetic algorithm is used to solve such a multi-objective optimization model. The simulation results of a typical wind power system show that the coordinated control strategy has better performance than the current individual one in respects of security and economy of the grid.
