수소연소 리니어엔진의 동적특성에 대한 연구

Linear engines give power output more efficiently compared to conventional reciprocating piston engine, because it doesn't have a crank mechanism, hence there is less mechanical loss. In addition, if hydrogen fuel is used in a linear engine, it would be possible to make exhaust emission level almost zero without sacrificing the efficiency. In this study, a prototype linear engine was developed and a hydraulic starting system was adopted to give it a motion. It was possible to operate the engine at a velocity of 17㎐. The linear engine was found to give various positions of piston at TDC and different combustion characteristics at each fire. This irregular moving characteristics is mainly caused by the degree of freedom of the piston without crank mechanism in the linear engine and resultantly the subsequent combustion was affected significantly. In extreme cases, abnormal combustion or misfire brought out and this made the engine stop because there is no mechanism to save the inertia energy in the linear engine.
