Haptic Device System for Upper Limb Motor Function and Cognitive Function Rehabilitation

We have developed a rehabilitation tool system utilizing a haptic device. We try to integrate motion and sensory therapy without the patients loosing their interest. This system aims to integrate the training of both motor function disorder and cognitive function disorder. It consists of a haptic device, a display, a computer and software for training. The haptic device provides a virtual torce in the different training programs. Patients can improve not only motor function, but also cognitive function. This system can record the training data. It can be used to evaluate the relearning degree, using quantitative analysis. We tried to evaluate the functionality of this system by introducing it to physical and occupational therapists. They had a good impression of this system.
