Experimental study of vibration suppression for uncertain two-mass torsional system

Driven systems usually use flexible shafts connecting loads in industrial production. When the motor acceleration or deceleration, the system will generate unstable torsional vibration. This affects the normal production seriously even endanger the personal safety. Especially, the complexity of flexible shafts makes their stiffness coefficient difficult to calculate accurately and measure complex. So it is difficult to establish mathematical model of system accurately, and make great inconvenience to design the controller for vibration suppression. In this paper, a vibration suppression controller which is combined IP feedback control with a Zero Vibration feedforward is designed for an uncertain two-mass torsional system based on time-frequency analysis (TFA) by identifying the resonance frequency and the settling time of the system. In this case, it improves the response speed of the system and achieves a good effect on vibration suppression. The experimental research is implemented by groups of experiments on two-mass torsional system. Experimental results show that good performance for vibration suppression is obtained. The response speed of the system is improved significantly.
