The invention provides a method for enhancing the reliability of redundant master stations, which comprises the following steps: two or more redundant master stations are electrified for taking over working privilege; the mater station which takes over the working privilege is the working mater station and the master station which does not take over the working privilege is the standby master station; the standby master station transmits information of breakdown of the standby master station self through a redundant communication channel to the working master station which judges the breakdown level of the standby master station and the working master station self; if the breakdown level of the working master station is higher, the working privilege is handed over to the standby master station which is switched as the working master station. Meanwhile, the invention also provides a system for enhancing the reliability of the redundant master stations. With the invention, when the working master station is broken down, the standby station can be switched as the working master station, which greatly enhances the reliability of the communication between the master station and a slavestation.
