Applications and extension of CIM standard in chinese electrical power control centers

In order to meet the requirements of some important field site applications, IEC61970 Common Information Model (CIM) standard has been extended in China, such as extensions of external network equivalent model and HVDC model. The extended CIM has been applied in many Chinese Electrical Power Control Centers (EPCCs) successfully. As an example of integration of applications developed by different vendors in one EPCC, the CIM standard was adopted to exchange model between the system-wide automatic voltage control system and the existing Energy Management System in Jiangsu Provincial EPCC. As an example of integration of multiple control centers, an CIM standard based hierarchical network remodeling system is designed and implemented to improve real-time external modeling in China Southern Grid(CSG). In addition, an example of CIM/CIS based open data service system implemeted in Jinhua Subtransmission control center was introduced to show the field-site application of CIS based data access service. The efficiency of the CIM based field site applications is validated.
