The challenge of abundance in palynomorphs

Abstract An annotated summary is provided of several papers by the author on a new method of data handling that both demands and allows for the much more efficient use of the abundance of palynomorphs in fine stratigraphy. The purpose of assemblage types, biorecords, comparison records, event compilation, bracket correlation, and various nomenclatural points is argued in sequence. The method is shown to be compatible with the continued use, if desired, of Linnean procedures for palaeobiologic purposes other than stratigraphy. Some remaining problems of palaeopalynology are commented upon.
