StirMark and profiles : from high end up to preview scenarios

Digital watermarks used for copyright protection have to be resistant towards subsequent modifications of the media. Robustness against most types of image modification can be achieved by appropriate modulation techniques in combination with an image transformation. However, geometrical image distortions affect most watermarks as they cause a desynchronisation of the detector. Common methods to protect the watermark against geometrical distortions are based on invariant transformations or embedding domains respectively additional reference markers or image feature points to regain synchronisation. In this paper a new approach for watermark synchronisation is proposed. Motion vectors computed from the video are used as robust and inherently present feature of video sequence to synchronise an oblivious watermark detector.
