Analysis of Vivaldi antenna on cross-polarization application

This paper provides analysis of two classical Vivaldi antenna, which contains the characteristic of impedance matching in wideband, structure of antenna in height, especially the cross-polarization in E-plane and H-plane that is significant in dual-polarization array. Vivaldi antenna with dissymmetrical matching structure, is proposed with insupportable cross-polarization, though it has many excellent performance, such as wide-band, wide-scan, lower insertion loss and lower profile. This paper analysis the causation of the high cross-polarization in theory and the results are approved to be valid by simulating a trigonal array. It is important to check the element characteristic of cross-polarization in dual-polarization application.
