Thermal storage system is one of the promising technologies for the efficient management of building energy. For thermal storage system, by using a cheap night-time power, there are advantages such as relief of demand energy imbalance between day and night time, reduction of the operating cost and so on. This study has been experimentally conducted for refrigeration system with thermal storage according to control strategies such as refrigeration system priority method and thermal storage priority method. N-tetradecance which is phase change temperature 5.9℃ is used for phase change material. Temperature difference between inlet and outlet is changed rapidly because of using sensible heat at the beginning of charging/discharging point. In both method, operating ratio of refrigeration is increased while operating ratio of thermal storage is decreased, as heat exchange rate of thermal storage is decreased because heat storage is decreased. There was no big difference in electricity consumption between two methods but, when concerning about midnight electricity rate, thermal storage priority method is 7% less than refrigeration system priority method. Using present experimental results as well, follow research evaluates and analyzes additional control method from the performance of a refrigeration system with thermal storage.
