It may not seem at first glance that social scientists and ecologists have much in common. [McMahon and colleagues][1], however, set the record straight in their Perspective. They discuss an unusual conference on applying network theory to biocomplexity, which makes it clear that social scientists and ecologists share a passion for unraveling the myriad connections in complex systems whether they be society balls or swamps.
