A New Database Operator Definition and Searching Algorithm for Snesor Networks

Most sensor networks are currently used to gather sensing data from a broad environment in which it is very difficult to deploy the existing networks (e.g., internet). Recently, researches on relational database approaches to sensor networks are being tried. There occur, however, some problems in applying directly the traditional relational database concepts into a sensor network. For instances, consider the following examples: How can we write a query to get locations at which temperature is 22℃, given a sensor network area where there are some spots with exact 22℃ but there is no sensor node to announce exact 22℃. For a solution about the above described problems we propose in this paper a new database operator for the sensor network and a searching algorithm for this operation. This new operator allows to create tuples with existing tuples. As a result, this new database operator with the new searching algorithm can provide more effective data management and standard interfaces to application programs in sensor networks. Furthermore, it is also helpful to spare node's energy by reducing the number of communications in processing a query.
