A REACTIVELY EVAPORTED COxFe3-xO4 PERPENDICULAR MAGNETIC FILM

---A kind of new perpendicular magnetic film has been developed by reactive evaporation method using glass substrates at room temperature. The composition of this film is a single phase vectolite CoxFe3oX04 with a certain degree of (100) preference, x value is in the range from 0.75 to 1.65 . Saturation magnetization Ms decreases monotoniously with the increasing x value. A film obtained has such superior perpendicular magnetic properties as Hcl.. =2.08kOe Hk=l2.5kOe and Ms=385emu/c.c. when x=O.75 . The perpendicular anistropy originates from the magneto-crystalline anisotropy and an induced uniaxial anisotropy which is due to the presence of directional short range order among cations and cation vacancies in the spinel matrix .
