Häufig auch außerhalb der Tropen: Giardiasis und Kryptosporidien ▼ Giardiasis Die Giardiasis wird weltweit über kontaminierte Speisen oder Getränke fäko-oral durch die widerstandsfähigen Zysten übertragen; weitere Übertragungswege wie orale oder anale Sexpraktiken sind beschrieben worden. Da Lamblien auch bei verschiedenen Tierarten vorkommen, handelt es sich um eine Zoonose. In den Tropen sind bevorzugt kleine Kinder befallen, in Mittel-Europa sind besonders Fernreisende im Fokus. Nach einer Studie des Robert Koch-Instituts bei 273 Fällen von Giardiasis werden immerhin knapp die Hälfte autochthon in Deutschland erworben. Risikofaktoren für eine Lambliasis waren in dieser deutschen Studie Immunsuppression und der tägliche Verzehr von grünem Salat [4].
