A new radio access strategy using a repeater in the DECT radio local loop application

This paper deals with the DECT (Digital European Cordless Telecommunications) system in the radio local loop (RLL) application. In this context, a scenario in which the service allows local mobility to the user, both inside and outside buildings, is developed; to overcome the propagation problems due to additional walls attenuation and to offer a suitable indoor coverage, the relay function seems to be a viable solution. For this purpose, an additional unit, called the repeater (REP), is needed. This paper gives and evaluates an original solution for the REP unit, which can use a simplified RFP (radio fixed part) hardware and an adapted software. To validate the effectiveness of this solution, some computer simulations are carried out.<<ETX>>
