High power 1018 nm ytterbium doped fiber laser with an output power of 309 W

In this letter, we report on a high power 1018 nm ytterbium doped fiber laser. The unwanted gain near 1030 nm is suppressed by appropriately selecting the specifications of YDF. A record output power of 309 W is obtained, with an efficiency of 71%.
