High efficiency control of synchronous reluctance motors using extended Kalman filter

To improve the efficiency of synchronous reluctance motors, the authors present a high efficiency control strategy which controls the exciting current as well as torque current instantaneously. Since the control performance for high efficiency control strongly depends on the electrical machine parameters, they perform this highly efficient control strategy with online parameter estimation using the extended Kalman filter. Simulation results indicate that the proposed control method can accomplish the high efficiency control of synchronous reluctance motors in spite of parameter variations.
