PERFORMANCE VERIFICATION OF A CONCRETE PIPE

Based on load cell tests and predicted results from SIDD, the following conclusions can be drawn: (1) before formation of cracks, moments were well correlated by SIDD; (2) thrusts measured during load cell tests were consistent with SIDD capabilities only for low surface pressures; (3) cracks formed in locations of maximum moment which were predicted by SIDD; (4) after formation of cracks in the concrete pipe, moment and thrust were not comparable to SIDD results; (5) crown pressure measured at failure was approximately twice the magnitude recorded at initial cracking.
