Development and Application of Health Monitoring System for Piezoceramic Concrete Structure

The concrete structure crack damage detection technology based on piezoelectric ceramic sensors has been achieved a great development today. However, the technique has not widely been used so far in the practical engineering, and the lack of the corresponding monitoring system development is one of the main reasons. In this paper, based on the features of concrete structure crack damage monitoring and using the PZT wave-based method as the theoretical foundation,a portable health monitoring system for piezoceramic concrete structure has been developed by using the virtual instrument technology. The system test has been carried out through the concrete beam damage monitoring experiment at the condition of loading and the proposed system has been applied to the practical engineering. The results have been showed that the system has been operated stably and reliably. The different states of concrete structure crack damage can be identified in real-time online and the system has the functions of sound and light warning.
