We describe a systematic study of the operation of IEMC (in situ electrochemical membrane cleaning) as applied to the filtration of titanium dioxide at cross-flow velocities (0.27 m/s) too low to have a significant effect in preventing the deposition of particles at the filter surface. The data has been analyzed by using classical cake filtration theory modified to allow for operation with a complete recycle of permeate and retentate
