Piv experimental and numerical study of a 2-D airfoil for wind turbines

The 2-D airfoil of the wind turbine (NREL S809) was experimentally and numerically studied. The experiment focused on the PIV measurement of the 2-D airfoil flow field with different angles of attack under various Reynolds numbers. A lot of important and useful information was obtained. Furthermore, the experimental result was compared with CFD simulation in order to study the flow field in more detail, especially the useful graphs of the velocity vector, the data of the lift and drag, the distribution of the vortex, and separation of surface boundary layer under the different angles of attack and with different Reynolds numbers were compared and analyzed. Relatively good agreement between the experimental and numerical result was achieved.
